2026 Exam Updates

What's New in the 2026 AIGP Exam

The 2026 AIGP exam uses the updated Body of Knowledge version 2.1, representing a significant shift in how AI governance is tested. Understanding these changes is essential for candidates preparing today.

Key Changes in AIGP BoK Version 2.1

  • Shift from governing isolated AI models to managing end-to-end AI systems — including data pipelines, deployment infrastructure and operational processes.
  • New testing requirements for agentic AI architectures — autonomous multi-agent systems, escalation of privilege risks and governance feedback loops.
  • Explicit testing on Fundamental Rights Impact Assessments (FRIA) for high-risk AI systems — a new requirement not covered in earlier exam versions.
  • Expanded AI-specific laws — EU AI Act, US federal and state AI laws, South Korea AI legislation, and the new ISO/IEC 42005 standard for AI system impact assessments.
  • Increased focus on provider, developer, deployer and user role distinctions — who holds governance obligations at each stage of the AI lifecycle.
Study Guide

How to Prepare and Pass the AIGP Exam

The AIGP is a scenario-based exam — it tests your ability to reason through governance decisions, not just recall definitions. Here is the most effective preparation approach.

1

Use Updated 2026 Study Materials Only

Ensure your study guide explicitly references BoK version 2.1. Older 2025 materials will not cover agentic AI architectures, FRIA or ISO/IEC 42005 — all of which are now tested.

2

Master the EU AI Act and US AI Laws

AI-specific legislation now forms a major part of the exam. Focus on understanding the EU AI Act's risk-based classification system and how US federal and state AI laws interact with it.

3

Understand Role Distinctions Clearly

Know the difference between AI providers, developers, deployers and users — and which governance obligations belong to each role. This is one of the most frequently tested areas in scenario questions.

4

Study Agentic AI Governance

Agentic and multi-agent AI systems are newly emphasized in BoK 2.1. Understand the unique governance risks they introduce including escalation of privilege, feedback loops and accountability gaps.

5

Practice Scenario-Based Questions

The AIGP does not test memorization — it tests governance reasoning. Practice applying AI governance frameworks to realistic scenarios to build the decision-making skills the exam demands.

After Certification

Certification Maintenance

🔄

Valid for 2 Years — 20 CPE Credits Required to Renew

Once passed, the AIGP certification remains valid for two years. To maintain it, you must complete 20 continuing education credits aligned to the AIGP Body of Knowledge through IAPP-approved activities. IAPP members have the certification maintenance fee covered through their membership. Non-members pay a $250 fee upon recertification.
